SQUARE ENIX Japan has announced the latest addition to their new "PLAY ARTS True" line, an evolved action figure series building upon the "PLAY ARTS Kai" brand. This highly anticipated "Sephiroth" figure, based on the company's hit game "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH," is slated for release in November 2026.
As the iconic antagonist from "FINAL FANTASY VII," Sephiroth commands immense popularity and charisma. He was once the most powerful member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER program, holding the highest rank of "1st Class." Known for his cool demeanor, bravery, and strong sense of responsibility, he was highly respected and even cared for his subordinates, earning the admiration of many. However, during the "Nibelheim Incident" five years before the main story, Sephiroth uncovered vast knowledge about his origins, the Ancients, and the planet's history from the Lifestream. This revelation led him to secretly plot the activation of the ultimate destructive magic, "Meteor," to strike the planet, intending to merge with the overflowing Lifestream as the planet healed itself, thus ascending to a god-like existence.
The "PLAY ARTS True Sephiroth" figure stands approximately 29 cm tall and features an updated articulated body. This new body is an evolution of the "PLAY ARTS Kai" series, incorporating newly designed joint parts and hip joints. It also eliminates the previous ratchet joint mechanisms, allowing for smoother and wider ranges of motion. Furthermore, the eye parts now include a new articulation mechanism, enabling collectors to adjust his gaze to match various poses.
The overall sculpt is meticulously based on Sephiroth's 3D model from the "FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH" game. It exquisitely captures his signature silver long hair and sinister facial features. The figure comes with two interchangeable hair parts—one static and one flowing—along with two distinct expression plates. His costume faithfully reproduces the intricate silver-edged carvings on his massive shoulder armor and the layered, three-dimensional black attire, with fine details like fabric textures, wrinkles, and numerous metallic buckle decorations.
Accessories include Sephiroth's iconic long blade, the "Masamune," and a single black wing with articulated joints. These allow collectors to recreate his seemingly divine yet menacing "One-Winged Angel" appearance, as well as dynamic battle poses as he wields the Masamune.
