Good Smile Company's MECHA SMILE brand, known for its "MODEROID" plastic model kit series, today announced a brand new sub-line, "DX-SCALE," featuring enhanced size, color separation, and intricate detailing. The first release in this new line is the "Evangelion Unit-01" from "Rebuild of Evangelion," slated for release in June 2027. This highly anticipated model will be available in two versions: a Standard Edition and a "LUMINOUS SET EDITION."
This new release is not merely an upscaled version of the "MODEROID Evangelion Unit-01" released in 2023. Instead, it reinterprets the dynamic, muscular, and sharply detailed aesthetic of the "Evangelion Unit-01" statue from the "Shin Japan Heroes Universe," originally sculpted by KLAMP STUDIO, into a fully articulated plastic model kit.
The "DX-SCALE Evangelion Unit-01" kit features multi-colored parts, clear parts, some pre-painted components, and water-slide decals. Its green armor parts are designed to glow under blacklight. Once assembled, the model stands an impressive 26 cm tall, offering a striking, anime-accurate appearance straight out of the box.
The model boasts extensive articulation throughout its body and limbs, including an opening jaw, allowing for a wide range of poses. Collectors can recreate Evangelion's signature human-like movements, such as jumping, running, high kneeling, and the iconic roaring berserk mode. The Standard Edition comes equipped with a variety of weapons, including the Spear of Cassius, a Pallet Rifle, and a Progressive Knife, along with dedicated interchangeable hand parts for natural weapon-holding poses.
The LUMINOUS SET EDITION takes it a step further, adding two self-standing blacklight units and a special light-up head part. This head features an internal LED lighting mechanism, activated by an included magnetic switch, to illuminate the Unit-01's eyes. Both blacklight units are also 26cm tall, matching the Unit-01 itself, ensuring comprehensive illumination of the model's front to maximize the fluorescent effect of its green armor.
