In an exclusive report today, Deadline revealed that Meghan Markle, who has not acted in nearly nine years, was in talks to join the third season of Netflix's gangster series "The Gentlemen." However, sources close to the production emphasized that negotiations were not yet finalized. This is because "The Gentlemen" Season 2 is only set to premiere on September 3, and a third season has not been officially greenlit. While a renewal is considered highly likely, the final decision will reportedly hinge on Season 2's viewership performance.

Rumors of Markle's desire to return to acting have circulated for some time. Prior to the reports of her potential involvement in "The Gentlemen," she had already filmed a cameo for an Amazon comedy film. That project reportedly features a star-studded cast including Brie Larson, Lily James, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding, among others. It appears Markle has been steadily working to re-establish her presence in the entertainment industry.
However, other reports now suggest that Markle's planned participation in "The Gentlemen" Season 3 has been scrapped by the production. Tina Brown, former editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair, indicated that the decision to cancel her role was due to the significant and widespread public antipathy towards Markle in the United Kingdom.
