Good Smile Company's MECHA SMILE brand is set to release a new addition to its MODEROID model kit series: the highly anticipated Dancouga from the classic robot anime "Dancouga - Super Beast Machine God". This impressive kit is slated for a June 2027 release and will be available in two versions: a standard edition and an enhanced "Flight Booster Set" that includes even more accessories.
In the series, Dr. Hazuki secretly developed four advanced weapons, known as the "Beast Machines," to counter the invasion of an alien empire from another dimension. He recruited four young pilots, including Shinobu Fujiwara, from the military academy to operate them. These four Beast Machines are formidable weapons, each capable of transforming through three distinct modes: Normal Mode, Beast Mode, and Humanoid Mode. They can further combine to form the colossal robot Dancouga, unleashing its maximum combat power. Dancouga draws unfathomable strength by sensing the pilots' mental energy, though this power also places a significant burden on their minds and bodies.
The "MODEROID Dancouga" boasts a sculpt based on the previously released "THE GATTAI HAGANE WORKS Dancouga", meticulously re-engineered for model kit specifications. It faithfully retains the striking proportions and high-density armor detailing. The kit utilizes various colored runners, pre-painted parts, and decals to assemble the four transformable and articulated Beast Machines: the "Eagle Fighter," "Land Liger," "Land Cougar," and "Big Moth."
All four Beast Machines can transform into their Fighter Mode, Beast Mode, and Humanoid Mode without the need for part-swapping. Each unit features articulated joints and comes with dedicated weapons and weapon-holding hand parts. When combined, Dancouga stands approximately 23 cm tall, also without requiring any part-swapping. For the head, collectors can choose between a "fully transformable" version or a "non-transformable" version that more closely matches the anime's animation style. The chest armor and shoulder parts also offer options for "TV anime" or "OVA" designs.
Weapon accessories include Dancouga's signature finishing move, the "Dancouga Sword," the "Daigan" (Big Gun) formed by combining the Beast Machines' individual weapons, and a non-transformable "Flight Booster" mounted on its back. When equipped, the Flight Booster allows its twin cannons to pivot forward, and multiple rear cannons feature articulation to recreate the iconic "Dancouhou Formation."
The more luxurious "Flight Booster Set" further includes the powerful special attack "Beam Dancouken" and "Enhanced Wings" that attach to Dancouga's back. The Beam Dancouken features an oversized clear blade part to replicate its devastating effect, while the Enhanced Wings boast the same high-density detail sculpting seen in THE GATTAI HAGANE WORKS line.
