From BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collectible toy division, the alloy action figure series "HI-METAL R" is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the mecha anime "Metal Armor Dragonar" with its latest release: the "Dragonar-1 & Cavalier 0" set. This highly anticipated item is priced at 29,700 JPY and is slated for a February 2027 release!
The "XD-01 Dragonar-1," along with its sister units, the "Dragonar-2" and "Dragonar-3," were originally cutting-edge Metal Armors developed by the Giganos Empire. Protagonist Ken Wakaba and his two companions accidentally stole these units, making them their personal Metal Armors. After their hometown was destroyed by the Giganos Empire's retaliatory lava cannons, the trio embarked on a journey to fight against the Empire. The "Dragonar-1" is a Metal Armor unit designed for close-quarters combat, boasting excellent mobility but lacking long-range firepower. To compensate for this, the "XC-00 Cavalier 0" was developed as a support unit, providing the Dragonar-1 with a versatile array of weaponry for enhanced combat options.
The HI-METAL R series has previously released several "Metal Armor Dragonar" products, including the later model "Dragonar-1 Custom". However, while also a Dragonar-1, this new "Dragonar-1 & Cavalier 0" set is an entirely new sculpt and includes the "XC-00 Cavalier 0" armament, which has rarely been immortalized as a physical product before – a true testament to the release's dedication! The model faithfully recreates the sleek design of the initial Dragonar-1. The Cavalier 0 can be freely detached and reconfigured to display two distinct forms. True to the HI-METAL R line, the signature deployable armor panels revealing internal mechanisms are also faithfully reproduced. The set comes packed with five interchangeable hand parts and a plethora of weapons, including the iconic "Anti-MA Grenade," a "Laser Sword" that can be reconfigured into a double-bladed mode by swapping its hilt, two "Assault Knives," a "Hand Railgun" with four magazines, "Throwing Bombs," and a "Shield," allowing for a wide range of dynamic poses!
