MECHA SMILE's MODEROID plastic model kit series has announced its latest release from the "Linebarrels of Iron" manga, the Verdant, slated for June 2027.
The Verdant is a close-combat MACHINA piloted by Reiji Moritsugu, the head of JUDA's Special Affairs Office, and stands as one of JUDA's most formidable combat units. Beyond its striking blue armor, the Verdant's most distinctive feature is the several "Variable Auxiliary Wings" mounted on either side of its back wings. These wings not only function as shields but also house a total of 16 katanas, allowing the unit to wield multiple blades in one hand during combat. Furthermore, these auxiliary wings can be reconfigured into large electromagnetic cannons for mid-to-long-range engagements.
The MODEROID Verdant is meticulously crafted based on the design by original author Eiichi Shimizu. The kit features multi-colored runners, some pre-painted parts, and water-slide decals, allowing for an impressive straight build that faithfully recreates its sleek, heroic proportions and angular, heavy armor, reminiscent of Western knight armor. Intricate details are also present on the internal frame and joints. For the head, builders can choose between the standard twin-eye visor or a mono-eye part, specific to Moritsugu's unit.
Each section boasts flexible articulation, allowing builders to pose the unit in dynamic combat stances, wielding the four included katanas. The "Variable Auxiliary Wings" mounted on either side of the main wings also faithfully recreate their in-setting functions. A combination of artificial muscle belt parts and joint mechanisms allows for both stored and deployed configurations (the deployed state requires the included stand for support). Furthermore, each auxiliary wing part can be detached from the main wing, and the katanas stored within can be individually removed.
Additionally, the kit includes katana-holding hand parts that can be used with the separately sold MODEROID Linebarrel Overdrive, allowing fans to recreate its appearance during the final battle.
