Marvel Studios' "Thunderbolts*" employed a rather creative promotional tactic last year, revealing a second title, "The New Avengers," after its theatrical release to align with the film's ending.
This year, another film is adopting a similar marketing strategy: "The Uprising," a new historical war film directed and written by Paul Greengrass, known for the "Bourne" series. The movie was originally titled "The Uprising," but starting yesterday, distributor Focus Features suddenly began using a new title on its promotional materials: "The Uprising: Rise of Robin Hood."

This new title has surprised many online, as Focus Features had never previously indicated that "The Uprising" was a "Robin Hood" adaptation. Yet, with only 15 days until its North American release (scheduled for September 11), they suddenly announced that "The Uprising" is, in fact, an origin story for Robin Hood.
Prior to this, official information from Focus Features only described the film as a story about a peasant leading a revolution against a tyrannical king. Now, not only has the title changed, but some promotional clips also show star Andrew Garfield, who plays the protagonist, wearing Robin Hood's signature green cloak and wielding his iconic bow and arrow (pictured above).
In addition to Garfield, the film's cast includes Jamie Bell, Tom Hollander, Thomasin McKenzie, Jonny Lee Miller, Katherine Waterston, and Cosmo Jarvis, among other stars. To watch the full trailer, please click this link.
