Bandai Spirits' Tamashii Nations, a division known for its popular Chogokin die-cast toy series, has announced a special new product to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Super Sentai series: the "Chogokin Himitsu Sentai Gorenger" set. This set is priced at 33,000 JPY and is slated for release in February 2027.
Toei's 1975 tokusatsu production, "Himitsu Sentai Gorenger," is the original series that kicked off Japan's iconic "Super Sentai Series." Created by manga master Shotaro Ishinomori, it established the classic formulas that would define the franchise, including the five-member team, color-coded roles, and combined finishing moves. With a total of 84 episodes, it remains the longest-running Super Sentai series to date.
As a special 50th-anniversary commemorative item, this "Chogokin Himitsu Sentai Gorenger" set is a faithful reissue of the original Gorenger die-cast toy set released in 1975 by POPY (ポピー), a toy company later acquired by Bandai. It perfectly retains the nostalgic appearance of the originals, and in addition to the five members—Akarenger, Aorenger, Kirenger, Midorenger, and Momorenger—the formidable foe, Iron Mask General Temujin, is also included in the set.
The figures themselves are extensively constructed with die-cast alloy throughout their bodies and feature multiple swivel joints, allowing for simple yet engaging dynamic poses. They can even launch missiles from the small "Birdy" rocket thrusters equipped on both sides of their waists! Each Gorenger member comes with their classic individual weapons, including Akarenger's Red Whip, Aorenger's Blue Cherry, Kirenger's YTC Transceiver, Momorenger's Earring Bombs, and Midorenger's Green Boomerang, among other abundant accessories. General Temujin also includes his iconic Trident Spear and Baton.
Furthermore, the set includes exclusive Gorenger Keys for all five members. Combining these five keys allows collectors to assemble the classic Secret Sentai emblem. When displayed with their dedicated bases, they look incredibly cool! Standing approximately 12.5 cm tall and boasting a substantial die-cast heft, this set is an absolute must-have, whether for veteran collectors reliving childhood memories or for Sentai fans celebrating the 50th anniversary.
