Japanese toy brand MEDICOM TOY is set to release a new "Star Wars" themed product: a Darth Vader Sofubi figure. This new collectible will retail for 19,800 JPY and is slated for release in February 2027.

First appearing in the 1977 film "Star Wars" (later retitled "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope"), the Dark Lord Darth Vader is undeniably one of cinema's most iconic villains. Even those unfamiliar with the "Star Wars" saga will recognize his imposing space samurai aesthetic and his chilling, mechanical breathing.

This "Darth Vader" Sofubi figure, sculpted by MONSTER ART TOY, stands approximately 26 cm tall. Despite its large size, it features a charming, stylized five-head body ratio, faithfully recreating the details of Vader's helmet, battle armor, and chest life support system. The figure comes with his essential lightsaber, which he can wield. His signature black cape appears to be crafted from a rigid plastic sheet material, giving it a dramatic, stiff drape. A major highlight of this release is the removable helmet, which reveals a meticulously sculpted, scarred head underneath. Even with the figure's cute aesthetic, the sculpt accurately captures the post-special effects makeup likeness of Sebastian Shaw, with intricate details like facial indentations and bruises exquisitely reproduced. It's a truly fascinating piece!
