To commemorate the 45th anniversary of the "Golion" anime broadcast, Bandai Spirits' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division, known for its classic die-cast toy "Chogokin" series, has announced the reissue of the classic "Chogokin Golion" toy, originally released by Popy in 1981. It is slated for release in March 2027.
The mysterious "Golion" is a colossal robot formed by the combination of five mechanical space lions. Legend has it that this machine once rampaged through the cosmos in ancient times, unbeatable, even foolishly challenging the Goddess of the Universe. It was ultimately subdued, its body separated into five mechanical lions, and sealed on the planet Arus for thousands of years, becoming its guardian deity. In the present day, the beastman-ruled Galra Empire has launched invasions and massacres across numerous planets. To combat them, Princess Allura, the sole survivor of the Kingdom of Arus, unsealed Golion and entrusted it to five imprisoned Earth youths as pilots.
The "Chogokin Golion" meticulously preserves the original toy's sculpt and feel from its era. Standing approximately 15 cm tall, it faithfully recreates the combined robot form of the five lions. The entire body features rich color applications and dazzling silver chrome plating in multiple areas, with parts of the torso and legs crafted from die-cast metal. Paired with chrome-plated accessories like the Blazing Sword and shield, it delivers a substantial and luxurious feel.
The overall articulation design also retains its vintage charm. Vertical swivel joints are present at the shoulders, hips, and knees, allowing for simple walking poses. The base of the back wings also features angle-adjustable joints. Furthermore, the arms and legs replicate the mechanism for launching the lion heads, allowing fans to recreate the anime's classic "Lion Head Attack."
