Good Smile Company's MECHA SMILE brand has announced the latest addition to its "MODEROID" model kit series: Kabutack, from Toei's "Metal Hero Series" tokusatsu show "B-Robo Kabutack," slated for release in May 2027.

The robot protagonist, Kabutack, whose design is based on a rhinoceros beetle, is one of the "Beetle Robots" created by Dr. Torahiko Koenji. Dr. Koenji developed these self-aware, mobile robots to aid in his search for the mysterious "Star of Peace." While sometimes flustered, Kabutack possesses extraordinary courage and diligence. In his energy-saving Normal Mode, he sports a charming appearance and demeanor. However, upon transforming into his Super Mode, he not only gains a significantly cooler look but also unleashes his full combat potential.

The "MODEROID Kabutack" kit features multi-colored plastic parts, some pre-painted components, and decals. Once assembled, the Normal Mode stands approximately 14 cm (5.5 inches) tall, boasting articulated limbs for dynamic posing. It also includes three pre-painted and three unpainted interchangeable face parts.

Furthermore, the kit faithfully recreates the flip-over transformation mechanism originally conceived by toy designer Tsuyoshi Nonaka. Without the need for part swapping, Kabutack can fully transform into his Super Mode, standing approximately 17 cm (6.7 inches) tall. The kit also includes the "Electro Rod" weapon, featuring some clear parts, and Kabutack's Normal Mode helmet can be utilized as a shield.
