AMUSE Drops '100 Yen Coin Pouch Vol. 2' Capsule Toy Series, Super-Sizing Iconic Japanese Currency!

Japanese toy brand AMUSE is set to release the second series of its popular "100 Yen Coin Pouch" capsule toys. Following the success of the first wave, these miniature pouches once again transform iconic Japanese coins into functional coin holders. This new collection features four distinct designs, including 100 Yen coins from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras, alongside the ancient Wadōkaichin coin. Each capsule will retail for 300 JPY (tax included), with an anticipated release in late October 2026.

Crafted from polyester, each "100 Yen Coin Pouch" features a round body, faithfully reproducing the enlarged "100" numeral, era name, text, and botanical patterns found on the original coins. Topped with a zipper and a colorful strap, these pouches are perfectly sized to hold actual 100 Yen coins – ideal for your next gashapon adventure! The modern coin designs in this series include the Showa 59 (1984), Heisei 13 (2001), and Reiwa 8 (2026) editions. Notably, the Reiwa 8 version boasts a special glossy finish, mimicking the appearance of a freshly minted coin. This diverse selection of eras ensures that Vol. 2 offers more than just updated year designations. The fourth design takes a dramatic leap back over a millennium, introducing the "Wadōkaichin" coin, first minted in 708 AD during Japan's Nara period. This ancient currency is reimagined with its distinctive round outer frame and central square hole, featuring the four "Wadōkaichin" characters prominently on its front. Its unique historical aesthetic makes it a standout piece when displayed alongside the three modern 100 Yen coin designs.
