Sideshow Collectibles, a prominent American toy manufacturer, has unveiled a new DC Comics-themed product under its Premium Format line: the "Mr. Freeze" 1/4 scale collectible statue. Priced at $775 USD, it is now available for pre-order on the official Sideshow website, with an estimated shipping window of April to July 2027.
Dr. Victor Fries, a brilliant cryogenics expert, was driven to desperate measures when his beloved wife fell terminally ill, leading him to cryogenically freeze her to preserve her life. A tragic laboratory accident mutated Victor's body, forcing him to survive only in sub-zero temperatures. To fund the immense research costs required to save his wife, he donned a specialized cryo-suit, armed himself with a freeze gun, and became Mr. Freeze, embarking on a life of crime in Gotham City.
This "Mr. Freeze" 1/4 scale collectible statue stands approximately 59 cm tall, 34 cm wide, and 33 cm deep. Inspired by his comic book appearances, the figure captures Mr. Freeze emerging from a deadly, self-designed icy trap. The realistic sculpt meticulously recreates Victor Fries' face beneath his frosted glass helmet, with intricate details like wrinkles and scars finely rendered. His expression, partially obscured by red goggles, conveys a mix of menace, pain, and sorrow.
The intricate mechanical structures of his ultra-durable cryo-suit and freeze gun are exquisitely detailed. Connecting tubes and wires feature frosted effects, and meticulous paintwork recreates the visual effect of the conduits emitting a chilling glow. Coupled with the substantial, translucent light-blue ice crystal-shaped base, the piece exudes an oppressive sense of extreme cold, even through a screen.
