Dark Horse Direct, the collectibles brand under independent American comic publisher Dark Horse Comics, is rolling out several new products based on the popular video game spin-off anime series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners"! Kicking things off, we're taking a first look at the David Martinez pre-painted figure, priced at $69.99. Pre-orders are now open on the Dark Horse Direct official website, with an estimated release window between May and July 2027.
"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" is an anime spin-off produced by Studio Trigger for CD Projekt RED's game "Cyberpunk 2077". It tells the story of David Martinez, a poor street kid who, after his mother's death, is taken in by a crew of Edgerunners led by Maine, as he tries to survive in a world consumed by advanced technology.
This David Martinez figure stands approximately 22.5 cm tall and appears to be inspired by a scene from the anime's seventh episode, "Stronger," where he confronts and takes down a hulking Maelstrom opponent. The figure captures his look after Maine's death, when David takes leadership of the Edgerunners. Without his yellow jacket, the full extent of his cybernetic modifications is on display, showcasing his heavily muscled, enhanced physique and the Sandevistan implant on his back. Intricate mechanical panel lines cover his body, and his left arm is extended, poised to attack with his cybernetic hand cannon. You can even spot the cyberpsychosis inhibitor strapped to his arm!
The stylized base is designed to evoke Night City, with detailed paint applications highlighting its edges and the "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" logo prominently displayed on the front. A standout feature is the use of UV-reactive paint on the base, his pants' belt, and the inhibitor, allowing them to glow with a neon radiance in the dark, perfectly reflecting Night City's aesthetic! Furthermore, this figure can be displayed alongside the concurrently released Lucy, Rebecca, and Adam Smasher figures to fully showcase the formidable allure of the Edgerunners!
