Penned by Joanna Murray-Smith, "A Talent for Murder" centers on Edward Ridgeway, a mysterious young man from a New York publishing house. He is dispatched to Switzerland with the mission of convincing Patricia Highsmith, the acclaimed author of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" series, to write a final installment. As Edward assists Highsmith in developing the new story, the dynamic between them takes an increasingly unsettling turn.

Helen Mirren stars as Patricia Highsmith, with Alden Ehrenreich portraying Edward Ridgeway. Olivia Cooke also features as a fictional character within Highsmith's new book. The film is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival next month, followed by a limited theatrical release in North America on October 23, 2026.
