While many adapted films draw inspiration from novels, comics, toys, video games, TV series, or older movies, some also delve into the origins of "dining brands." Michael Keaton's "The Founder," which explored the history and business battles behind the McDonald's brand, is a prime example. Now, a new entry is set to join this genre: "Hooters: The Movie," focusing on the fast-food chain known for its iconic waitresses.

Interestingly, this film is being independently financed and produced by a co-founder of Hooters. Jonathan A. Rosenbaum, who previously directed the Netflix film "Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp," has been tapped to direct.

Production is slated to begin in November. The story centers on Ted and Lenny, two lifelong friends from a small town in Iowa, who inadvertently build a national restaurant empire, only to find their creation threatened by the federal government. Their adventure begins when Ted becomes infatuated with Diane, whom he first spots from afar in a spring break commercial. Determined to find her, Ted convinces a hesitant Lenny to join him on a road trip to Clearwater Beach, Florida. Diane would later become the very first Hooters Girl.
