BANDAI Co., Ltd.'s digital pet brand, Tamagotchi, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with the release of its first-ever ring-type device, the Tamagotchi Ring. Following an overwhelming response to the initial pre-order, the official second pre-order wave opened on August 29, 2026, priced at 7,700 JPY (tax included), with an estimated shipping date of April 2027.
From its original egg-shaped device with a chain to the wearable smart devices for wrists, the Tamagotchi has now shrunk even further into a miniature ring that can be worn on your finger. Billed as the "world's smallest ring-type Tamagotchi device," the main unit's front height is reduced to approximately 2.8 cm and features a 0.56-inch color LCD screen. Despite its incredibly compact size, it retains all the essential pet care and gameplay features.
How players care for their Tamagotchi will influence its growth and evolution. The game features over 30 different characters to raise, with the possibility of encountering hidden characters by meeting specific conditions. The compact device can be worn directly on your finger for easy interaction, eliminating the need to pull a device out of your pocket – simply glance at your hand to check on your digital pet anytime.
This release features three color variations: Pink & Pearl White, Light Blue & Metallic Gold, and Black & Metallic Silver. The Pink & Pearl White version boasts an aurora pearl finish, while the other two incorporate electroplating for a metallic sheen. The ring itself is designed to fit Japanese ring size 14, and can be adjusted down to size 10 with the included spacer. Each package also comes with a dedicated charger that matches the ring's color, which doubles as a display stand while charging. Additionally, a chain can be attached, allowing the device to be worn as a pendant.
The second pre-order period is scheduled to run until October 6, 2026, at 11:00 PM JST, but may close early if the maximum order quantity is reached. Each color variation is limited to a total of two units per customer across both the first and second pre-order waves. Currently, the product is being sold exclusively through PREMIUM BANDAI in Japan; information regarding sales in other regions is yet to be announced.
