Gal Gadot, currently on the press circuit for her new Amazon Prime Video thriller "The Runner," recently addressed the rumored cancellation of "Wonder Woman 3" during an interview on the "Happy Sad Confused" podcast. The actress expressed her frustration, revealing that DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn had previously assured her the sequel would move forward, only for plans to change without any notification to her.
Gadot stated, "They never officially told me no. They actually told me the opposite. They said, 'We're going to develop 'Wonder Woman 3' with you,' and so on. Then I saw how they handled other people's exits, like Henry [Cavill]'s situation, which wasn't handled very gracefully, to say the least. And Patty [Jenkins, director of the 'Wonder Woman' series] as well. But we're all adults, it's fine. The problem isn't with them; they're just doing what they believe will be successful, and that's good. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to wear the Wonder Woman boots, to embody such a beloved character, and to be the vessel for that character during that time."

Gadot continued, "I just hope that whoever becomes the next Wonder Woman approaches the journey of playing this character with a pure heart. While we always talk about this character as a movie or a superhero, she truly means a lot to many people. I hope they use the character with full respect to bring love and light to the world, and then enjoy the process. There's nothing to worry about; I was just a vessel for the character. This is just how Hollywood works."

Gunn has previously clarified the public's misunderstanding regarding Henry Cavill's "firing" on multiple occasions. He also revealed that various factions within Warner Bros. Pictures were simultaneously pushing their own DC Universe plans—including Dwayne Johnson, who reportedly aimed to take over DC with "Black Adam"—leading to significant communication breakdowns and a deluge of confusing messages for the public.
However, both Gunn and Cavill have confirmed that Gunn did sit down with Cavill in person to inform him of the DC Universe's impending overhaul. Why Gadot's situation differed, with no direct communication about the change in plans, remains unknown.
