BANDAI Japan has announced the re-release of the classic "DX Yo-kai Watch" sound and light toy, alongside a reissue of "Yo-kai Medal Chapter 1 ~Welcome to the Yo-kai World~". The DX Yo-kai Watch will retail for 5,830 JPY, while the Chapter 1 Yo-kai Medals will be 396 JPY per pack. Both products are slated for release in Japan on September 19, 2026.
The original DX Yo-kai Watch first launched on January 11, 2014, concurrently with the first chapter of Yo-kai Medals. This iconic toy brought the anime's summoning scenes to life, allowing kids to insert circular medals into the watch and hear the corresponding tribe's summoning song. While BANDAI later introduced various iterations, including the Zero-type, U-type, and versions with new voices, this re-release brings back the most recognizable white first-generation design. It aims to reignite the Yo-kai collecting craze that swept Japan over a decade ago.
The reissued DX Yo-kai Watch retains the original's two play modes. Inserting a Yo-kai Medal into the main unit activates "Summon Mode," playing the appropriate summoning song. Pressing the side button activates "Search Mode," illuminating a search light. The product includes two Yo-kai Medals: Jibanyan and Whisper. It requires three LR44 button batteries. While designed to resemble a watch, the official announcement reiterates that the device does not function as an actual timepiece.
Returning alongside the watch, "Yo-kai Medal Chapter 1 ~Welcome to the Yo-kai World~" features a total of 30 medal types, including 2 rare medals, 8 key medals, and 20 standard medals. Each pack contains two random medals and can be used with the separately sold DX Yo-kai Watch. Collectors who missed out on summoning their favorite Yo-kai twelve years ago finally have another chance to complete their collections!
