Golden Globe winner Michael Keaton, who famously portrayed Batman in Tim Burton's "Batman" (1989) series, and Morgan Freeman, known for his role as Batman's tech guru Lucius Fox in "The Dark Knight Trilogy," are set to reunite on screen. The duo, who never shared the same cinematic universe to fight crime, will now star together in the upcoming Western thriller, "Rode to Ruin."

According to a report from Deadline, Keaton and Freeman will co-star in "Rode to Ruin," with Keaton also taking on directing duties. This marks Keaton's third feature film as both director and star, following "The Merry Gentleman" (2008) and "Knox Goes Away" (2023). However, this isn't their first collaboration; Keaton and Freeman previously worked together in the 1988 film "Clean and Sober."

The screenplay for "Rode to Ruin" was penned by R. Dean McCreary, known for writing "The Pope's Exorcist" (2023). Keaton is cast as Henry Tillman, a retired U.S. Marshal, while Freeman will play Joseph Mulberry, a wanted outlaw. The plot follows Tillman's relentless 40-year pursuit of his wife's killer. A long-cold trail finally heats up, leading him to an aging outlaw who is losing his memory, and to a buried truth that neither man may be prepared to confront.
