Japanese capsule toy brand COTOFUL has transformed embroidery artist SUIMIN’s “Cat Kokeshi” creations into an adorable new collectible series. Each round cat has been reimagined with a cylindrical, kokeshi-inspired body, complete with slots on its head for displaying shed whiskers and a hollow belly that can store a tiny ball of fur. The lineup includes five designs, priced at 400 yen per play including tax, and launches in September 2026.
SUIMIN is an embroidery artist known for cat-themed creations, often combining felines with everyday favorites such as sushi and dumplings. The original Cat Kokeshi designs already featured the ability to display whiskers on their heads and store fur inside their bellies. Thankfully, both cat-owner-friendly details have been faithfully scaled down for this capsule toy release.
The collection features five designs: Takoyaki, Black-and-White Cat, Orange Tabby, and Calico, plus a Black Cat. Each one sports a simple, rounded body and a wonderfully vacant feline expression. Beyond lining them up for display, owners can insert naturally shed whiskers into their heads and tuck fur collected during brushing inside their bellies. That turns each tiny capsule toy into a personal keepsake box dedicated to your own cat. After all, cat owners rarely want to throw away a whisker they find, even if they have no idea where to keep it. Now you can plant those whiskers right on a Cat Kokeshi’s head and store a fur ball in its belly. Over time, each figure may gradually become a one-of-a-kind tribute to your feline companion.
