Japanese model manufacturer X-PLUS has announced the latest addition to their "X-PLUS MODEL KIT" static model kit series: the "Gamera (1996) Flight Ver.", based on the tokusatsu film "Gamera 2: Attack of Legion" and slated for release in November 2026.
Appearing in the Heisei Gamera trilogy, Gamera is established as a bio-weapon created by an ancient civilization using the Earth's life energy, "Mana". After defeating several man-eating Gyaos in the first film, Gamera's abilities grew, but in the sequel, he faced an even more formidable alien species, the Legion. Struggling in battle, Gamera, in order to protect Earth's ecosystem, unhesitatingly used a vast amount of Earth's Mana energy to unleash his "Ultimate Plasma Fireball" to eradicate the Legion. However, this act also accelerated the hatching of Gyaos eggs worldwide.
The "Gamera (1996) Flight Ver." is an updated version based on the Gamera (1996) Normal Ver. released last year. It utilizes numerous new parts to recreate Gamera's high-mobility flight form, with its arms transformed into wings and propulsion jetting from its hind legs. The wing parts intricately capture the biological, membrane-like texture. The jet nozzles are made from clear parts, allowing for painting to recreate flame effects. The carapace on the back and abdomen reuses parts from the Normal Ver., featuring precise individual part divisions that showcase exquisite detail and layered construction.
