After raking in over $500 million at the global box office and earning widespread critical acclaim, where does the original horror film "Obsession" go next? For months, fans who saw the movie have been campaigning online, advocating for lead actress Inde Navarrette, who delivered a wildly unhinged performance, to contend for this year's awards season and make it all the way to the Oscars. Now, it seems their calls have been answered.

Focus Features, the distributor responsible for "Obsession" in North America, has officially announced its plans to launch an awards season campaign for the film. This initiative includes submitting Navarrette for Best Actress at the Academy Awards, and also campaigning for Curry Barker, who served as writer, director, and editor, in the Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Film Editing categories.
While the Academy Awards have historically seen few horror film performances recognized in acting categories, many international media outlets generally believe that this year's awards season lacks particularly strong female performances, suggesting less intense competition. This could significantly boost Navarrette's chances of taking home a statuette on the Dolby Theatre stage.
