Just two months ago, "Fortitude," the World War II spy thriller reuniting Nicolas Cage with "Con Air" director Simon West, faced a major security breach. A hard drive containing the film's unencrypted master footage was reportedly stolen from Netflix's Los Angeles offices, raising concerns about potential leaks online. While the culprit remains at large and a release date is still pending, the production team has decided to kick off its promotional campaign by unveiling the first official trailer.

"Fortitude" is penned by producer Simon Afram and is based on a remarkable true story. The ensemble cast features a lineup of acclaimed actors including Matthew Goode, Ed Skrein, Ben Kingsley, Ron Perlman, Alice Eve, Lukas Haas, Michael Sheen, and Paul Anderson.

The film offers a unique origin story for "James Bond," delving into the period when Bond's creator, Ian Fleming, worked in intelligence. During this time, Fleming and former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill reportedly helped orchestrate "Operation Fortitude," a massive deception campaign. They assembled a team of elite secret agents, including the real-life spy Duško Popov (portrayed by Cage), who is widely considered one of the primary inspirations for the "James Bond" character. Together, they utilized fake armies, tanks, aircraft, and ships, along with actors and staged radio transmissions, to successfully mislead Adolf Hitler's Nazi forces before the D-Day landings, ultimately turning the tide of World War II.
