BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collector's division, known for its METAL ROBOT Damashii series that combines metallic finishes with die-cast frames, has officially announced the latest addition from "After War Gundam X," the Gundam Double X, slated for release in February 2027.
The GX-9901-DX Gundam Double X is a powerful Mobile Suit secretly developed by the New United Nations Earth (NUNE) to symbolize a new era and consolidate its power. It inherits the design philosophy and data of the Gundam X, which was hailed as the strongest Mobile Suit during the 7th Space War, and features a fully transplanted cockpit. Not only are its overall capabilities significantly enhanced, but it can also activate the Satellite System without requiring a Newtype pilot. The two Satellite Cannons mounted on its back have been upgraded to the Satellite System MK-II, which boasts improved microwave collection efficiency. Its power is several times greater than the old model, capable of continuous firing after a single microwave reception.
Standing approximately 15 cm tall, the METAL ROBOT Damashii Gundam Double X features intricate sculpting and detailed paintwork. Its silhouette faithfully recreates the in-show design, blending sharp edges with elegant curves on its armor. The gleaming cockpit hatch on its chest is rendered with a double-layered structure using clear and silver-painted parts. Numerous frame sections, including the chest, shoulders, elbows, hips, thighs, and knees, are constructed with die-cast metal. This not only provides a luxurious feel but also enhances joint strength and display stability.
To deliver a premium feel befitting a "Gundam X" 30th-anniversary commemorative item, the entire figure utilizes a rich array of painting techniques across all its parts. The main body's white armor features metallic gray and semi-gloss pearl white finishes. The heat sinks that deploy from the arm and leg armor are treated with a high-gloss gold electroplating. The interior of the back reflector panels uses a special polarizing foil, allowing the gold surface to reflect countless rainbow-like colors. Furthermore, original model-specific markings are printed throughout the entire body, showcasing even higher-density details and a realistic weapon aesthetic.
Weaponry includes the DX-exclusive Buster Rifle, shield, beam saber hilt, and beam effect parts. Combined with its highly articulated joints, dynamic poses such as dual-wielding beam sabers or firing its rifle can be recreated. The signature ultimate weapon, the Twin Satellite Cannon, features an extendable barrel mechanism. It can deploy its heat sinks, reflector panels, and targeting scope without needing any part swapping, allowing for the powerful stance of preparing to fire the Satellite Cannon to be displayed.
