BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collectible division, renowned for its S.H.MonsterArts line of highly detailed and articulated monster figures, has just unveiled a thrilling new addition to its "Movie Graphic Plus" series. This latest release is the "Godzilla (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla Poster Color Ver.)" action figure, inspired by the classic film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla." Priced at 12,100 JPY, this impressive collectible is slated for release in February 2027!
Released in 1993, the film "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" stands as the fifth installment in the beloved Heisei Godzilla series. The narrative unfolds after the events of "Godzilla vs. Mothra," where humanity establishes the United Nations Godzilla Countermeasure Center and forms the elite anti-Godzilla unit, "G-Force." Their mission leads them to salvage the remnants of Mecha-King Ghidorah from the ocean depths, leveraging 23rd-century technology to construct the formidable anti-Godzilla weapon: Mechagodzilla.
This new "Godzilla (Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla Poster Color Ver.)" appears to build upon the sculpt from the 2017 release, which masterfully brought legendary artist Noriyoshi Ohrai's iconic 1993 movie poster to three-dimensional life. The prototype was personally sculpted by none other than master monster sculptor Yuji Sakai (酒井ゆうじ). Standing approximately 16 cm tall, the figure meticulously captures Godzilla's thick, rough skin texture and imposing, heavy presence.
The figure's coloring is meticulously applied to reflect the dramatic atmosphere depicted in the original poster. Its body features a deeper, more subdued dark tone compared to previous versions, subtly accented with environmental reflections. This sophisticated paint scheme beautifully highlights the dorsal fins, which are rendered with translucent material and bright blue paint application to create dynamic interplay of light and shadow. Furthermore, the mouth's coloring has been precisely adjusted to achieve a glowing energy effect, while the eyes are brighter, conveying a powerful, ready-to-fire atomic breath pose! As a special feature of the "Movie Graphic Plus" series, in addition to the Godzilla figure itself, a commemorative PET art board featuring "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" will be included, allowing collectors to perfectly showcase the mighty charm of Godzilla as envisioned by Noriyoshi Ohrai.
