Nintendo brought its Nintendo POP-UP STORE in SAPPORO "Gather 'Round Daimaru Department Store Island" event to Daimaru Sapporo, offering Animal Crossing merchandise alongside the return of Controller Button Collection Volumes 1 and 2. The capsule toy lineup transforms classic controls from the Famicom, overseas NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Nintendo GameCube into miniature charms fans can carry anywhere. Each pull was priced at 600 yen, with the event running through September 6, 2026.
Originally released in 2021, Volume 1 breaks down the Famicom and overseas Nintendo Entertainment System controllers into separate D-pad, START/SELECT button, and A/B button charms, each fitted with a ball chain. The collection includes seven designs, including one secret variant. Longtime Nintendo fans will instantly recognize the Famicom’s red-and-white color scheme and unmistakably boxy buttons.
Volume 2 followed in 2024 and moved the collection into later console generations. Its six designs include the ABXY buttons from the Super Nintendo and overseas Super Nintendo Entertainment System controllers, the Nintendo 64’s A/B and C button cluster and 3D Control Stick, plus the Nintendo GameCube’s ABXY layout and yellow C Stick. It is essentially a collection of the controller sections that defined each generation of Nintendo gaming.
