Danish building-block giant LEGO and Japanese gaming company Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) have officially unveiled the new LEGO PlayStation. Based on the original PlayStation console and classic controller released in 1994, this 1,911-piece set recreates the iconic gray hardware at nearly 1:1 scale. Hidden inside are miniature scenes inspired by Ape Escape and Gran Turismo. Priced at $179.99, the set will be available through LEGO Insiders Early Access on October 1, 2026, followed by its general release on October 4.
This build goes well beyond simply recreating the original PlayStation’s exterior. Both the POWER and OPEN buttons feature working mechanisms, while the controller plugs into a port on the front of the console. The familiar gray shell, disc lid, and classic button layout have all been faithfully reproduced. Open the console to reveal two miniature dioramas celebrating legendary PlayStation games: a tiny racetrack and cars from Gran Turismo, plus an island scene from Ape Escape. The warning light atop the monkey’s head can even be swapped between red and blue. Both dioramas can also be removed from the console and displayed separately.
