Following the release of the Kagutsuchi-Kou and Kagutsuchi-Otsu (Close Combat Specification), Japanese model kit manufacturer Kotobukiya is finally completing the Kagutsuchi sisters trio with the announcement of the Frame Arms Girl Kagutsuchi-Otsu (Sniper Specification), slated for release in February 2027!
The Type 48 Kagutsuchi is a heavy Frame Arms mecha designed by mechanical designer Akira Inata. Characterized by its angular, blocky aesthetic, it boasts formidable defensive capabilities and features tires on its calves to compensate for mobility. Compared to the base model Kagutsuchi-Kou, the Kagutsuchi-Otsu sports even more exaggerated, heavy armor plating and is categorized into either a Close Combat or Sniper specialized type. For this Frame Arms Girl adaptation, Japanese illustrator Douyuu once again handled the design, reimagining the industrial-style heavy armor with a distinctly voluptuous and curvaceous physique!
The Kagutsuchi-Otsu (Sniper Specification) utilizes the same base body as its sister unit, Kagutsuchi-Kou, faithfully reproducing the series' largest and most voluptuous body proportions. Adorned in a primary color scheme of purple and teal, its forelocks can be swapped to display either an armored or unarmed appearance. This iteration's face sculpts present a somewhat sultry and languid "older sister" vibe, and it comes with three pre-painted faces: a "normal smiling face," a predatory "tongue-out face," and a bewildered "sidelong glance face." The crotch piece features an internal rotating axis to enhance forward and backward articulation. The most significant visual difference from its sister units, however, is its noticeably larger size and the inclusion of an industry-first movable chest curtain design (integrated with the bust), crafted with newly molded parts!
In terms of weaponry, it shares most equipment with the Kagutsuchi-Otsu (Close Combat Specification), with the primary change being the feet, which have been replaced with larger, more stable claw-like feet. Other signature features, such as the heavy armor, auxiliary wheels on the calves, and the iconic auxiliary mechanical arms on the waist and arms, are all retained. In addition to the "Large Rifle" and "Large Shield" from Kagutsuchi-Kou, this model is also equipped with the ultra-heavy "Hyakujyushiki Super Long-Range Cannon Murakumo," measuring a staggering 23.5 cm. Supported by the auxiliary arms on its back, it showcases incredibly exaggerated heavy firepower. The Murakumo's barrel can be further extended, and its front support can be retracted, allowing it to be used as a blunt weapon for close combat with the side grip, delivering devastating blows to enemies! Its angle can also be adjusted for use in unarmored mode.
