In recent years, numerous Hollywood actresses have publicly voiced their disdain for actors who employ, or claim to employ, method acting. These actors are typically male, and their methods are often perceived as overly aggressive, leading to disruptive behavior on set and causing significant trouble for production crews. Many actresses believe that method acting has become an excuse for male actors to behave badly.

Adria Arjona, currently promoting her new action film "Onslaught" [], is no exception. During an interview on the podcast "Scene Stealers" [], she shared her own experiences working with such difficult male co-stars.

Arjona stated on the show, "I've never had a director that I wouldn't want to work with again, but with actors, yes, I have. I've had an actor where I was like, 'Oh my God.' But that actor was more about vanity. I thought, 'How do you get away with this?' I was also confused. I was thinking, 'If I did that, I would never work in this industry again.' I was shocked by his behavior, but at the same time, I was amazed, thinking, 'You're f***ing brilliant, how do you think this is acceptable?' I really wanted to dissect their brains." []

Arjona went on to say that she actually researched this actor, watching their interviews. "I would look for interviews of this actor — I won't say if it's a female or male actor, I'll just refer to them as an actor — and I would be so surprised, 'Oh my God, they seem so nice, their acting is really good.' It's truly interesting to observe people's behavior." []

Subsequently, Arjona noted that many male actors use method acting as an excuse for their out-of-control behavior. "Can we boycott method acting? Because there are so many assholes among those who believe in it. That person would say they are a method actor, but I don't buy it. You are absolutely not allowed to do that. You would never see a female actor claim to be a method actor; only asshole male actors do. Female actors would absolutely be punished for that; we would never make it in this business." []

While Arjona insisted on not revealing the actor's gender, her later comments strongly implied the actor was male. After her interview clips were released, many netizens began speculating about the identity of the actor, with most fingers pointing to Jared Leto, her co-star in "Morbius" []. Leto is widely known for his method acting and has often been reported to employ extreme immersion techniques. He even joked about it himself at the Golden Globes, though he has also clarified that he doesn't consider himself a method actor. Stories from the set of "Morbius" included reports that Leto remained in character between takes and used crutches to slowly make his way to the bathroom, causing production delays. []
