Two months ago, reports surfaced that A24 was in talks to sign "The Backrooms" director Kane Parsons to a three-year first-look deal, reportedly offering him up to $65 million to return and direct a sequel. Last night, horror news outlet Dread Central exclusively revealed that Parsons has officially signed with A24 to move forward with "Backrooms 2," with an official announcement from the studio expected soon.

Dread Central also noted that Parsons had been developing another original film with "Longlegs" director Osgood Perkins, who served as a producer on "The Backrooms." However, that project is now temporarily on hold, as "Backrooms 2" has taken priority and will be Parsons' next film. Even before the first "Backrooms" film premiered, Parsons had frequently teased his ambitious plans for expanding "The Backrooms" universe in interviews, making his return to spearhead the franchise's growth entirely anticipated.
