Bandai Co., Ltd. is set to unleash a new addition to its popular tokusatsu and kaiju-themed Sofubi toy line, the MOVIE MONSTER Series. The latest reveal is the "Godzilla (2026) Metallic Black ver.", inspired by the film "Godzilla -0.0", with a scheduled release date of November 3, 2026. This menacing figure will be an exclusive offering available only at the official GODZILLA STORE.
The Godzilla (2023) that terrorized audiences in "Godzilla Minus One" was originally an ancient, dinosaur-like creature, standing 15 meters tall and residing in the deep waters surrounding Odo Island, where locals referred to it as "Odo". However, in 1946, following World War II, U.S. nuclear tests triggered Odo's mutation, transforming it into a colossal 50-meter-tall Godzilla. Its astonishing regenerative capabilities allowed it to recover instantly even after being bombarded by naval vessels, and it could unleash devastating, nuclear-level heat rays from its maw. After making landfall in Tokyo, Japan, and causing widespread destruction and casualties, it was ultimately defeated in the civilian-led "Operation Wada Tsumi". Yet, in the sequel "Godzilla -0.0", set two years after the events of "Godzilla Minus One", Godzilla—which should have disintegrated into countless fragments—mysteriously reappears.
The "MOVIE MONSTER Godzilla (2026) Metallic Black ver." is a striking repaint of a previously released general edition. This version features a glossy metallic black molded color across its entire body, complemented by distinct blue pupils. The sculpt itself remains identical, meticulously capturing the rough, rock-like texture across its form, the even larger coral-like dorsal fins compared to its predecessor, sharp claws on all four limbs, and an open jaw that perfectly conveys Godzilla's ferocious, roaring stance.
