Although The Amazing Spider-Man franchise has been dormant for years, many fans began hoping for its return after Andrew Garfield reprised his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Since then, calls for Sony Pictures to make a third film starring Garfield have continued to grow.
Now, those fan dreams may be slightly closer to becoming reality. Renowned entertainment insider Daniel Richtman recently claimed in a post for his X subscribers that Sony is considering moving forward with The Amazing Spider-Man 3 after Avengers: Secret Wars. However, the film may receive a different title rather than simply being called The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Richtman’s claim does not mean that the movie would merely receive a subtitle; even the word “Amazing” could reportedly be replaced.

Alongside the potential return of The Amazing Spider-Man, Richtman also shared another Spider-Man-related update. He pushed back against a rumor previously circulated by fellow entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello, which claimed that Doctor Octopus would appear in Avengers: Doomsday. Richtman also stated that no live-action Spider-Man film is currently in development.
As for MyTimeToShineHello, the outlet recently shared another rumor claiming that Bill Skarsgård and Wagner Moura had originally been in discussions to join the MCU as Professor X and Mister Sinister, respectively. Although neither actor ultimately landed those roles, they are reportedly still in contact with Marvel Studios about potentially taking on different parts. The outlet also claims that Emma Myers, who rose to prominence as Enid, a werewolf, in Wednesday, is being considered for an important but currently undisclosed role.
