Last August, reports surfaced that "Edge of Tomorrow" director Doug Liman was set to reunite with Angelina Jolie for Universal Pictures' action-thriller "The Initiative," marking their first collaboration since "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" 21 years ago. However, new reports today suggest that "The Initiative" might not be their only upcoming project together.

Renowned film reporter Daniel Richtman revealed on his Patreon page this morning that Jolie is now also confirmed to star in another political thriller directed by Liman, though its title remains undisclosed. While some speculate this could be the same project as "The Initiative," the latter has been a publicly known plan for some time, and with one being an action film and the other a political thriller, they are unlikely to be confused.
The script for "The Initiative" comes from F. Scott Frazier, screenwriter of "xXx: Return of Xander Cage." Jolie is set to portray Brett, an elusive master spy. A new agent named Charlie joins Brett's team, quickly finding himself in a perplexing situation: he's unsure if Brett intends to kill him or if she is simply willing to go to any lengths to protect the world. Details regarding the plot and character specifics for the newly revealed political thriller are being kept under wraps, with no leaks yet.
