Following "The Rip" earlier this year, Ben Affleck is set to star in another new film this fall, "Animals," which will premiere on Netflix. This time, however, he also takes on writing and directing duties. The film is slated for release next month, and tonight saw the debut of its second trailer along with a new promotional poster (pictured below).
Beyond Affleck himself, the ensemble cast features Gillian Anderson, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz, and Ray Fisher, who previously starred alongside Affleck as Cyborg and Batman, respectively, in "Zack Snyder's Justice League." The film is slated for a global Netflix premiere on October 9th, with a limited theatrical run in North America on the same date.

"Animals" is produced by Artists Equity, the production company co-founded by Affleck and Matt Damon, alongside Fifth Season and MakeReady. Damon and Affleck also serve as producers. The screenplay was originally penned by Connor McIntyre, with revisions later handled by Billy Ray, the screenwriter behind "Captain Phillips." The film follows a mayoral candidate whose son is kidnapped, leaving him and his wife with no choice but to resort to extreme measures to rescue their child amidst a landscape of political adversaries and other threats.
