Just days after the Emmy Awards concluded, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, attended the ceremony with his network's acclaimed productions. He also seized the opportunity for an exclusive interview with "Deadline," where he discussed HBO's future plans and direction for several upcoming IP adaptations.
First up was an update on "The Last of Us" []. While the creative team had previously hinted at the series concluding in either its third or fourth season, with no final decision made yet, Bloys offered a clearer answer during this interview, stating that he believes Craig Mazin, the co-creator, is planning for the third season to be the final one. []

Regarding "Game of Thrones," Bloys addressed circulating rumors about multiple spin-offs in development, clarifying that, aside from "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" [] and subsequent seasons of "House of the Dragon," no other spin-off projects are currently in active development. []
Bloys emphasized a similar situation concerning DC Universe series. He stated, "You know how I'm going to answer this? It's the same situation as 'Game of Thrones.' People see news about development and assume those are officially greenlit series, but they are still very much in the development stage. As everyone knows, development is about trying things, taking bold swings, and not every project in development ultimately gets made. I think we've had a pretty good track record with DC, from 'Watchmen' [] and 'Peacemaker' [] to 'The Penguin' [] and now 'Green Lantern Corps' []. We're very selective and careful, and that hasn't changed. You'll see a lot of development news, but please focus on the projects we've officially greenlit. There are no other projects in development right now, though obviously we have "The People v. Gorilla Grodd" [] in production, and I'm very excited to try some different material. I think it's a very interesting concept, and they've just started filming."
