Activision officially unveiled the latest campaign trailer for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 livestream, confirming that Mads Mikkelsen will join the cast as a major antagonist in the game.

Developers stated that the game's story centers on a "world-altering weapon" poised to fall into the hands of a mysterious enemy known as "Archer." While the trailer strongly suggests Mikkelsen portrays Archer, official confirmation is still pending.
The plot continues from "Modern Warfare 3." Following the assassination of General Shepherd, Task Force 141 is disbanded due to John Price's escape. Ghost begins to question Price's vigilante methods and, alongside Kyle Garrick, takes on the mission to hunt down, and potentially eliminate, their former captain.
Meanwhile, a new conflict erupts on the Korean Peninsula, and the mysterious weapon of war is being delivered to Archer, intertwining Price's escape with a burgeoning global crisis.
"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4" is slated for release on October 23, 2026. Players who pre-order the Digital Standard Edition or Vault Edition will gain early access to the campaign mode starting October 16.
