From 'Loyal Servant' to Hollywood's Hottest Villain: John Leguizamo Lands Major Antagonist Roles in New 'Miami Vice' and 'Exorcist' Sequel!

The new "Miami Vice" film, titled "Miami Vice '85," starring Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler, has unveiled its latest cast addition. The Hollywood Reporter (THR) exclusively revealed that veteran Colombian-American actor John Leguizamo has joined the production and is confirmed to play the main villain.

Interestingly, this isn't the only recent blockbuster to cast Leguizamo as a villain; he's also reportedly tapped for a major antagonist role in a new sequel to "The Exorcist" .

The new "Miami Vice" is directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for "Top Gun: Maverick." Eric Warren Singer, screenwriter for "Maverick," and Dan Gilroy, director of "Nightcrawler," are penning the script.

In addition to Leguizamo, the previously announced supporting cast includes Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, Danny Ramirez, and Alden Ehrenreich.

The film's story is set in the mid-1980s and is a direct adaptation of the original 1980s TV series pilot. It will be shot with IMAX cameras. Production is expected to begin this year, with a scheduled release date of May 19, 2028.
