BANDAI SPIRITS’ BANDAI HOBBY division will release the latest model kit from "Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn," the "MGSD Kshatriya," on September 26, 2026. Ahead of its launch, the official THE GUNDAM BASE TOKYO and LINKL PLANET channels have shared an early unboxing video packed with new details, including the box art, contents, and the kit’s extensive mechanical gimmicks.
The "MGSD Kshatriya" is the biggest entry in the MGSD line to date in terms of both box size and parts count. It is also the only non-Gundam mobile suit among the series’ current seven releases. The box art captures the Kshatriya unleashing its full complement of Funnels, while the massive package contains 28 runners molded in yellow, white, black, dark gray, purple, red, and three different shades of green. Builders can assemble the intricate inner frame piece by piece before installing the outer armor, delivering the satisfying experience of constructing the mobile suit from the inside out.
Once assembled, the "MGSD Kshatriya" is also the largest MGSD kit yet, standing nearly as tall as the 15.5 cm HG version. Its color separation and level of detail go far beyond the HG release. The chest-mounted Mega Particle Cannon ports, inner thruster nozzles, and The Sleeves emblems across the chest and forearms are all recreated with separate color-molded parts. The truss components inside the four massive binders use Realistic Metallic Gloss Injection to produce a more convincing metallic appearance, while the Funnel pods feature clear purple parts made with Reflection Cut technology to create a luminous effect.
Beyond its imposing looks, the "MGSD Kshatriya" packs an impressive range of mechanical gimmicks into its super-deformed proportions. The head features a linked tracking mechanism that moves the mono-eye whenever the head turns. Removing the chest armor allows the cockpit block to open, revealing a removable red spherical escape pod. The shoulders incorporate an original deployment gimmick that opens the white armor sections to expose the internal machinery, while the forearms recreate the mobile suit’s Beam Saber storage compartments.
In addition to basic vertical movement, the side and rear skirt armor feature pull-out mechanisms at their mounting points. Extending these sections creates additional clearance and expands the legs’ range of motion. Despite their bulky appearance, the legs also feature linked knee armor that slides naturally as the knees bend. Multiple articulation points in the ankles and feet allow for deep extension and flexion.
The four massive binders surrounding the Kshatriya are every bit as mechanically sophisticated. Pressing an internal button opens each Mega Particle Cannon muzzle like the petals of a flower. Multi-axis support arms give the binders a broad range of movement in multiple directions, while concealed sub-arms equipped to wield Beam Sabers are also faithfully reproduced. Deployable armor panels reveal the intricate Funnel pods within, letting builders create an even more imposing silhouette.
All 24 Funnels stored inside the binders can be removed individually. Each Funnel features a versatile 3 mm connection port at the rear, making it compatible with separately sold display stands for recreating the Kshatriya’s full-launch All-Range Attack.
