Guardian: Akahane
Its armor stained scarlet by countless battles, Akahane is an all-purpose unit among the Guardians. It can tear through enemies at close range with polearms or pick them off from afar with its crossbows, swiftly annihilating anything in its path amid the flames of war.
Following the Guardian – Sentinels of Azure Dragon (CD-AS-01), Akahane marks CangDao Model’s second major release in the series and pushes its aggressive Eastern armor aesthetic even further. The layered exterior armor and sharply defined edges give the mecha a powerful presence. As an alloy-frame model kit, it also features improved joint support and better weight distribution, delivering a satisfyingly solid feel and a stable inner frame across a wide range of battle poses.
The build itself went smoothly, with most of the time spent applying the waterslide decals. I painted several areas metallic red and gloss black, while the gold parts came prepainted. Panel lining brought out the details nicely, and after applying the decals, I finished everything with a UV-resistant gloss clear coat. As a beginner, I found Akahane to be an excellent choice. Straight builders can also handle and pose it without much concern. It honestly feels like assembling your own METAL BUILD figure—except it costs less than HK$200.
