BANDAI SPIRITS’ TAMASHII NATIONS collectible division has unveiled the latest release in its METAL ROBOT SPIRITS line, which combines metallic paintwork with die-cast inner frames. Based on the movie "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack," the new "HWS & Display Parts Set for ν Gundam" is priced at 12,100 yen, including tax, and is scheduled for release in March 2027.
Designed by mechanical designer Yutaka Izubuchi, the FA-93HWS ν Gundam Heavy Weapons System Type first appeared in a magazine in 1988. In-universe, Anaheim Electronics developed the equipment for the ν Gundam in preparation for the possibility of a prolonged Second Neo Zeon War. Drawing on the Full Armor Gundam concept, the Heavy Weapon System (HWS) dramatically boosts the mobile suit’s firepower, thrust, armor, and overall combat performance. Its thick chest armor has also earned it the joking nickname “big-bust mode” among fans, inspiring plenty of humorous fan art.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS HWS & Display Parts Set for ν Gundam" is an expansion pack designed for the previously released "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS ν Gundam". The set is divided into three main sections: "additional armor," "additional weapons," and a "mobile suit display unit." The armor package adds chest armor, leg thrusters, and waist thrusters. In addition to its I-Field Generator, the chest armor differs significantly from previous versions by replacing the missile-bay doors with a newly designed Minovsky particle-removal powder ejector (ミノフスキー粒子除去用パウダー噴出器). The leg thrusters now feature an outward-deploying mechanism for more flexible thrust vectoring, while the units mounted to the front and rear skirt armor can open for omnidirectional propulsion. Exclusive insignias and warning markings printed throughout the armor add another layer of mechanical detail.
The additional weapons begin with the High Mega Shield, which houses two mega particle cannons, four missile launchers, and a beam cannon. Its deployable shield panels open to reveal the massive cylindrical condenser inside. The set also includes the enormous Hyper Mega Rifle, complete with a ball-jointed bipod that can be freely adjusted for different firing poses. Designed like a maintenance rack, the mobile suit display unit can hold the ν Gundam’s standard weapons alongside all the HWS equipment included in this set, making it easy to showcase either the base configuration or the fully equipped HWS mode.
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS ν Gundam" is also getting a re-release in March 2027.
