Kotobukiya Unveils KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS 10th Anniversary LUDENS Plastic Model Kit

Japanese model kit maker Kotobukiya has officially unveiled its new “LUDENS” plastic model kit, based on the iconic mascot of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS! Priced at 11,000 yen, the kit is scheduled for release in March 2027.

LUDENS, the symbolic character of acclaimed game development studio KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, takes its name from Dutch historian Johan Huizinga’s 1938 book "Homo Ludens." The astronaut-like figure wears a skull-shaped mask and a bulky mechanical extravehicular activity (EVA) suit. Equipped with advanced gear and cutting-edge technology, LUDENS embodies the pioneering spirit of exploring new frontiers, shaping the future, and creating entirely new forms of play.

Created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS, the LUDENS plastic model kit was fully supervised by art director Yoji Shinkawa. Standing approximately 7.5 inches tall when assembled, the kit recreates the character’s complex, futuristic equipment through sharply detailed sculpting, right down to the exposed cables and metallic components. Beneath the mask, builders can choose between a pre-printed eye part and an unpainted part with sculpted eye details. The signature flag comes in both black and clear green, while four sets of interchangeable hands provide additional display options. Multiple 3mm connection points throughout the model also support weapons and armor from Kotobukiya’s existing M.S.G Modeling Support Goods, Frame Arms Girl, and Frame Arms lines!
