Kaiyodo has unveiled the latest release in its popular articulated figure series, "Amazing Yamaguchi." Based on Go Nagai's legendary "Mazinger Z," the new "Mazinger Z New Color Ver." is scheduled to go on sale at Kaiyodo's directly operated stores beginning October 3, 2026.
Mazinger Z is the super robot created by Dr. Juzo Kabuto at the Photon Power Laboratory to stop Dr. Hell's plans for world domination. Standing approximately 18 meters tall, the imposing machine runs on a pollution-free Photonic Energy Engine and is protected by the nearly indestructible Super Alloy Z. Its formidable arsenal includes the Rocket Punch, Breast Fire, Photon Beam, Rust Hurricane, and many other devastating weapons. Once Koji Kabuto docks the Hover Pilder with Mazinger Z's head, he takes control of the machine and becomes humanity's "Castle of Iron" against Dr. Hell's Mechanical Beast army.
"Amazing Yamaguchi Mazinger Z New Color Ver." updates the previously released standard edition, replacing its original silver, black, and metallic blue finish with a glossy black-and-white color scheme that more closely resembles Mazinger Z's appearance in the "Mazinkaiser" OVA. Sculptor Katsuhisa Yamaguchi builds on the classic anime design with sleek armor contours and a powerfully muscular silhouette.
Kaiyodo's signature Revolver Joint system and precisely segmented articulation are used throughout the figure. The engineering preserves the integrity of the sculpt while allowing Mazinger Z to strike flexible, powerful poses that evoke the movement of a muscular human body. The bases of the chest heat sinks can even swing upward, preventing them from obstructing the arms when extended forward. Collectors can recreate signature attack poses, dynamic running, jumping, and flying scenes, or even display the battered super robot slumped on the ground after being knocked down.
Along with multiple interchangeable hands, the figure includes a Breast Fire part in its heat-dispersing state, jet effects for recreating the Rocket Punch, wrist parts for the Iron Cutter, and parts for the Drill Missile. The winged Jet Scrander can also be mounted on Mazinger Z's back, while jet effects attach to its nozzles and the soles of its feet for dramatic flight poses.
