"Heat 2" is gearing up to begin production in November, with more casting news continuing to emerge. TheWrap exclusively reports that Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year as Fantastic Four member the Thing, is in final talks to play Kelso, a broker who supplies information for heists. Tom Noonan originated the role in the first film. Guy Pearce was reportedly also considered, but director Michael Mann ultimately favored Moss-Bachrach.

The sequel’s cast also includes Leonardo DiCaprio as Chris Shiherlis, taking over the role played by Val Kilmer in the original; Christian Bale as Vincent Hanna, succeeding Al Pacino; and Stephen Graham as Neil McCauley, the master thief previously portrayed by Robert De Niro. Odessa Young will step into Ashley Judd’s role as Charlene, while Adam Driver will play the sequel’s new chief antagonist, Otis Wardell. Jason Clarke has also joined the cast, though his role has yet to be revealed.

Mann will once again write and direct "Heat 2," adapting the spin-off novel he wrote several years ago. The story unfolds across two interwoven timelines. One begins a day after the events of the original film, with Vincent Hanna continuing his pursuit of the fugitive Chris Shiherlis. The other takes place seven years earlier, following McCauley, Shiherlis and their fellow thieves through a series of other jobs while Hanna hunts an entirely different criminal. Though their paths initially appear unconnected, the two storylines ultimately converge in an unexpected and fateful collision seven years later.
