Rising star Sydney Sweeney, who shot to fame as a sex symbol, recently sparked fierce debate with an ad campaign for sports prediction and trading platform Novig. While some praised Sweeney for confidently showing off her body and knowing exactly what her audience wanted, others accused the campaign of oversexualizing female athletes and undermining their accomplishments. Fans and sports figures were not the only ones weighing in. Sweeney’s "Euphoria" Season 3 costar Sharon Stone has now shared her take on the controversy.

Asked about the controversy during a recent interview with "People," Stone stopped short of delivering a harsh rebuke but made her position clear. She said Sweeney needed to take responsibility for her own actions, while it was not Stone’s place to judge her. Stone added that her role was to champion women who had succeeded and become champions in women’s sports, arguing that female athletes should not be diminished simply to attract male attention and entice men to gamble.
Stone also recalled threatening to sue her high school unless she was allowed to try out for the boys’ golf team, as the school did not offer any girls’ sports teams at the time. That experience gave her an especially personal understanding of why supporting women’s sports matters.
