PLEX is bringing another Ultra Hero to its Great Saurus lineup, a revival of Popy’s classic oversized Soft Vinyl toys from the 1970s. Following the previously released original Ultraman, the latest entry is an Ultraman Tiga Multi Type Soft Vinyl figure. Priced at 19,580 yen, it will receive an advance release at Super Festival 95, held at the Science Museum in Tokyo on September 27, 2026.
The Great Saurus line originated with Popy in the 1970s, before the company was absorbed into parent company Bandai in 1983. These classic Soft Vinyl toys are instantly recognizable for their squat proportions and distinctive footprint engravings on the soles. PLEX officially launched its Great Saurus revival project in 2024, bringing a growing selection of nostalgic designs back to collectors.
The real novelty here is seeing Tiga, who made his debut in 1996, reimagined in a Popy toy format that had disappeared long before the series premiered. The Ultraman Tiga Multi Type figure features an all-new sculpt inspired by vintage Soft Vinyl styling, giving Tiga’s signature form a charming retro makeover. It is molded in vivid red vinyl with clean silver and soft blue-violet paint applications, while warm gold accents highlight the eyes and chest. Standing approximately 12.8 inches tall, the figure delivers an imposing shelf presence.
Series trademarks also return, including a “POPY” stamp on the figure’s back and the classic engraved sole design synonymous with Great Saurus. The result feels like Ultraman Tiga has traveled back through time to become a genuine piece of 1970s toy history—and it should make a standout addition to any Ultra collection.
