Japanese figure manufacturer ALTER, renowned for its exceptional quality among premium Bishoujo Figure collectors, has revealed its latest release from the role-playing game "Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream." The new "Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure" is scheduled for release in August 2027.
The protagonist, Sophie Neuenmuller, is a cheerful young woman who lives on the outskirts of the small town of Kirchen Bell. Passionate about the alchemy taught to her by her late grandmother, Sophie works harder than anyone to master the craft, though her absent-minded nature often ends in failure. One day, she discovers an ancient talking book named Plachta. Determined to restore Plachta to human form, Sophie sets out to recover the secrets of a lost branch of alchemy. Set between the original game and "Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey," the sequel follows Sophie into the dream world of Erde Wiege as she searches for her missing partner, Plachta.
The "Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream Ver. 1/7 Scale Figure" brings Sophie’s redesigned appearance from the sequel to life at approximately 9.4 inches tall. Delicate paintwork captures the original illustration’s soft eyes and radiant smile, while the carefully shaded gradient in her hair creates a convincing interplay of light and color. Individual strands appear to dance in a gentle breeze, perfectly conveying Sophie’s endearing charm.
Her entire outfit has been reproduced with remarkable precision, from the light, billowing volume of her coat to the expansive plaid pattern lining its interior. Sculpted folds, seams, and tied leather cords add another layer of realism. The flower ornaments on her hat and boots, the small backpack resting behind her, and the ornate gold accessories and buttons across her costume are all individually painted. Her staff combines clear parts with metallic and pearlescent finishes to distinguish its varied materials. The result makes Sophie look as though she has stepped straight out of the original artwork, with every detail recreated to the fullest extent possible.
