Acclaimed art and collectibles company MONDO is celebrating Ultraman’s 60th anniversary with a new lineup of Soft Vinyl releases. Next up is the Jirahs (ジラース) Soft Vinyl Figure, priced at $190 and limited to 300 pieces. Orders open exclusively through the MONDO SHOP website on September 29, 2026, at 11 a.m. CT.
Known as the “Ruffed Dinosaur,” Jirahs debuted in Episode 10 of the 1966 series, “The Mysterious Dinosaur Base.” Professor Nakamura discovered the creature as a juvenile at Loch Ness and secretly raised it at Lake Kitayama for 15 years, transforming it into a mutated dinosaur. To keep production costs down, the Jirahs suit repurposed the body from 1964’s “Mothra vs. Godzilla” and a Godzilla head from 1965’s “Invasion of Astro-Monster.” A massive, frilled-lizard-like membrane was added around its neck—only for Ultraman to mercilessly rip it off during their climactic battle.
Standing approximately 10 inches tall, MONDO’s Jirahs Soft Vinyl Figure reimagines the classic Kaiju with the studio’s signature cute styling. The figure is rotocast in dark gray Soft Vinyl, with ivory paint bringing out its claws and fangs. Signature yellow-green gradients across the chest and neck frill complete the unmistakable screen-inspired look. Its biggest feature is the removable neck frill, allowing collectors to pair Jirahs with the newly revealed “Ultraman 1966 / Land of Light Variant” and recreate the infamous scene where Ultraman tears it away. MONDO has also unveiled an eye-catching “Jirahs / Anatomy Variant,” giving Ultraman fans another release they won’t want to miss.
