Back in January, Sky announced that it would take the reins on a new screen adaptation of the bestselling Swedish crime novel series "Millennium." Now, the broadcaster has officially unveiled its two leads: David Oyelowo will play journalist Mikael Blomkvist, while rising star Viola Prettejohn will take on the role of hacker Lisbeth Salander.

The first season will adapt the opening novel, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." "The New Look" co-writer Amanda Coe is developing the scripts alongside "The Punisher" showrunner Steve Lightfoot and co-writer Angela LaManna. Production is set to begin in Lithuania in October.
The Sky series marks the fourth screen incarnation of the "Millennium" franchise. The first was the Swedish adaptation starring Noomi Rapace, followed by the American version with Rooney Mara and the U.S. reboot "The Girl in the Spider's Web," led by Claire Foy. To date, however, only the Swedish production has completed the full original trilogy.
