BANDAI's Gashapon brand has launched a new series of "Doraemon Light-Up Mascot" capsule toys, turning Doraemon, Dorami, and a classic secret gadget into miniature display pieces that cast a soft glow. The lineup includes four designs measuring approximately 6.5 cm tall. Each pull costs 500 yen, with the series rolling out across Japan beginning in the third week of September 2026.
This is not the first time BANDAI has given Doraemon the light-up capsule toy treatment. Back in 2009, the company released "Doraemon Light-Up Mascot: Secret Gadget Ver.," featuring Doraemon paired with the Small Light, Memory Bread, and Air Cannon. Each design lit up at the press of a button. Reviving the concept roughly 17 years later, the new versions use an on/off switch on the bottom and feature replaceable batteries. Rather than offering a quick flash as a simple gimmick, these collectibles function more like miniature night-lights for a desk or bedside table.
The lineup includes "Doraemon (Relaxing)," shown lounging on his side.
"Doraemon (Sitting)" features the robotic cat seated neatly upright.
"Dorami (Good Night)" captures Dorami sleeping peacefully with her eyes closed.
Rounding out the set is the "Small Light," faithfully recreating the gadget's familiar cylindrical design.
The first three designs pair relaxed poses with a warm glow, while the Small Light transforms the iconic secret gadget into an actual miniature lamp. Unfortunately, it cannot shrink your overflowing collection to make more display space—but at least this Small Light really does light up.
